A correct IEP decision must be carried through to the actual testing environment. Teachers and test coordinators share responsibility for preparing permitted accommodations and accessibility supports while following current Alabama test administration and security requirements. The official manual for the assessment and school year governs administration details.

Alabama Administrative Code, Chapter 290-8-9; current ALSDE assessment administration and security requirements
Before the testing window, compare the student’s IEP with the assessment registration, assigned accommodations, and testing schedule. Confirm staff training, designated setting, materials, and technology. Check whether any assistive technology, communication system, reader, scribe, or other support is compatible with the secure test platform and permitted by the current manual. Arrange checks early enough to correct errors before test day.
Explain the testing routine and permitted supports to the student without exposing secure test content. Make sure all test administrators know the precise limits of their roles. Follow the current test manual for handling materials, access to test content, timing, interruptions, and documentation. Do not photograph, copy, discuss, or share secure content except as expressly allowed by official procedures.
If an accommodation is missing or an irregularity occurs, follow the LEA’s reporting chain and the test manual promptly. Do not improvise an unapproved accommodation, restart, or score decision on your own. Keep student-specific testing records confidential and share them only with authorized staff.
Read the current assessment manual and complete required training.
Verify IEP supports against the registered test settings.
Test approved technology in advance under permitted procedures.
Report and document concerns through the LEA test coordinator.
Assuming IEP accommodations automatically appear in the test platform
Using a classroom device or application without confirming assessment compatibility
Making an unauthorized on-the-spot change after an administration problem
Discussing secure items outside approved procedures
