Special Education Services (SES) supports every Local Education Agency in Alabama in fulfilling its obligation to provide a free appropriate public education to children and youth with disabilities, ages 3 through 21, as required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Alabama Administrative Code, Chapter 290-8-9.
The resources on this site are designed to support effective implementation of federal and state requirements across four areas: instruction, compliance, data, and program administration. Teachers will find guidance and tools for IEP development, accommodations, behavior supports, and classroom implementation. Coordinators will find monitoring resources, compliance timelines, reporting requirements, and fiscal guidance.
All materials are available for download and use within your LEA. Resources are aligned with IDEA and the Alabama Administrative Code and are updated as federal and state requirements change.
Guidance and practical tools for daily practice: IEP development and implementation, accommodations and modifications, behavior and discipline requirements, assessment participation decisions, and progress monitoring.
